If you have a long counter, you get this some times, they clearly see you walk 5 feet down to your register and instead of following you (like most normal people do) they stand there and wait for you to ring them out and walk back with their change/purchases. This seems to be a cash paying customer’s shtick because if they pay with a card they HAVE to walk over to approve/sign/hit some sort of button.
